Arrival In Bermuda

June 11th, 2009

After almost 40 hours of travelling time from Malaysia to Bermuda, I got onto the island safely and also my bags! Haha, I was really thankful for the safe journey after all these terrible air disasters that came up recently. Felt a bit awkward to actually come into the Bermuda Airport and standing in the queue for tourist this time as I had previously queued under the expats line, a line that barely moved. Good nice hot weather as I landed, waiting patiently to catch a glimpse of Laughton after 3 months since I last saw him from JFK New York airpot. It was rather surprising for me as I was kinda shocked to see an Englishman waving with a big smile across his face to me. Ah-ha, he is my boyfriend. It probably took me up to a quarter of an hour before I realised it was him! We did chat online, on the phone, e-mails, chatting through webcam and texting but it was still quite different for me. It didn't take long for him to spot me, my green flourescent Nike baby T and bright red Samsonite suitcase made it so much easier for him. I was really pleased we managed to arrange for this summer vacation because I think I would have gone mad if we had not seen each other for half a year or 9 months as we planned earlier??? We took a cab back and then headed to his new place. He helped me unpack and then we went to Swizzle Inn South Shore for quick dinner as I was feeling really tired after the long journey.

We had a plate of nachos for starter.
Looking really pleased, was it because of me or the nachos??
His- Southwest Chicken pizza. Our favourite pizza (should I say the better pizzas that you can find here)
Fish and chips. It was not as good as I expected as the batter was thick and stuck onto the fish. Not the best. I am still in search for the best fish and chips, probably had them in England. Only if I could eat them with some Kimball or Maggi or even Lingham's chilli sauce. Yes, I think I will be shot by people who sold fish and chips there.

Dinner at Bistro J, Hamilton Bermuda

June 20th, 2009

After doing some shopping in Hamilton town, Bermuda, we headed back home to chill for a bit before getting ready to dinner at Bistro J with Jose and Jian. I thought the walkway looked really cool and would be nice for some photos but Laughton's camera did not seem to give me the effect that I expected. Or maybe it was his photo taking skills. He needs to learn. Haha I hope he is not reading this. Anyway, can't blame him as he spends most of his time with his employer or should I say the "Best Employer to work for in Bermuda" (pardon my sarcasm, I was once there too, but I guess He knows how I had been suffering and decided that the I had enough to bear with and I had never been happier ever since I left!). I really have to say I do have a lot of respect for this man, Laughton for hanging in there during these difficult times for both of us. Appreciate it!

Some photos we rushed to take as Jose had sent a text message wondering if we needed any directions. Dude, you should stay cool as we were just 5minutes late and this is considered way too early by Bermudian standard! :) It was great to catch up since I last saw him about 3 months ago.

Jose and Jian.
One without the glasses.
Me and Laughton.
Our drink, we had a glass of Prosecco each (me and Laughton), an Italian wine which is generally sweetish.
Laughton ordered the Mushroom Cream Puff Pastry Tartlet for his starter and I just pinched from him a little and some mussels from Jian. Taste was okay, creamy mushroom with some rocket salad. The pastry was pretty decent too, being quite fluffy.
We all ordered the New York Strip Steak, Mash Potato, Mushroom and Onion Sauce for our mains and I had ordered medium but I think I got mine a bit too cooked towards well done. I like the sauce and the mash was good too, would have been better if it came slightly more pink. Laughton had the same problem too, he ordered rare and got it medium. Just wondered if they can get it perfectly right just like those we had in Peter Luger's in New York. The best timing, regardless of the number of orders lining up.

Jose and Jian's dessert. Double scoop of vanilla ice-cream served on an ice bowl. He was well impressed by the presentation. He did not say much about the ice-cream though hehe.
Laughton had this moist chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream which I shared with him. It was pretty good.

Dinner at Rosa's Cantina

June 14th, 2009

We both found this interesting, the last time we had dinner here was for my farewell in Bermuda and hey, never thought that I would be back here again at Rosa's Cantina! So we had dinner at Rosa's.

Anyway, we had some nachos with some salsa for starters to kill our hunger, as we were both starving at past 8pm.

Beer for him and a Margarita for her. Very nice.

His dinner? I could not remember what it was called. A mix platter, it seemed like. He enjoyed his dinner though.
Yummy, I can't wait to dig into my order- Ribs and wings combo. It was a really big portion, which I ended up saving the other half for my lunch the very next day. Ribs were tender and well marinated and it was really good! I could have this again if we've got time this week. The wings were tasty too.

Krua Thai for dinner

May 28th, 2009

Met up with my good friend, Mark for dinner one night partly also because I had to collect the painting which he got it framed up for me and we decided to head back to the same Thai restaurant that he first brought me and Laughton to when we came back for holiday last year. I didn't take any photos then and I decided to take some so I can post it up here. Food here is really authentic and it was obvious as those people serving us were all speaking in Thai and I could see through to the kitchen plus Mark told me that the chefs are all from Thailand, which explains the authenticity. This is probably my favourite Thai restaurant and because it is situated in Kepong, an area which is out of my knowledge (even after coming here for the 2nd time and being lead by Mark), I still fail to find my way here. It's okay perhaps since I got him to come with me to this place everytime. :) Pricing is very reasonable as the meal below with four dishes and drinks (without alcohol) came just under Rm100, think it was Rm80. I can't wait to be back here again! We tend to order the same dishes, because there's just the 2 of us and maybe we will change some dishes the next time!

#1 Tom yam gung seafood. Very spicy and thick and I think it was sourish enough and hey, it was kickin! Very tasty and the seafood was fresh too. It came with some shrimps, lalas (clams), sotong (squid) and slices of fish too.
Pat ku choy fried with sambal. I'm loving this fern-type of vegetable. It's pretty good and the other one done at Lala Chong's is a must try also!
Steam siakap Thai style. It came with a bowl of soup for us to pour over the fish as the fire would have simmered the soup away. The soup was spicy and sourish taste. Very delicious! We both cleaned up everything, only left the bones. Just the two of us and we ate the whole fish.
Close up look. Nicely garnished with slices of orange and lemon, some cilantro and chilis.
Our favourite pandan chicken. I think this is the best pandan chicken I've ever had. Or maybe another restaurant in Port Klang does a pretty decent one too. It's very good!
After unwrapping the pandan chicken, this is what you should get. Yummy!

A day's out at Flatt's Village, Bermuda

June 14th, 2009

Weather looked great today, so we decided to head to Flatt's Village and take a couple of photos.
