Dinner at the Madhatters, Feb 27, 2009

I was having the same problem every Friday in Bermuda, same question. Where do we have dinner tonight? There is so limited choice of restaurants and types of food here on the rock. Finally, Chubbs came up with a brilliant suggestion- Madhatters. It was awesome and we enjoyed it every moment just like we did every time we came here. This is one of the best restaurants on the rock and it was great too that Irene joined us for dinner after happy hour drinks at the Fresco's Wine Bar.

Eagerly waiting for FOOD..
Hats, hats and more hats

Hence the name- Madhatters.

Part of the restaurant's decor.

Having our bread for starters. We get excited about the butter as it was very tasty. think its some herbs mixed with the butter.

He was the only one that went for the full course meal. Started of with a roasted quail with mushroom stuffings with some rocket salad. I thought it was the most delicious quail that I had ever tasted! Absolutely beautiful! Chubbs only complaint was, they should have served him a PAIR of quails instead of one as they were so good! But for USD17, that is probably a pricy quail. Hey, it was worth all the money though.

With Irene and our main courses. Think she had the roasted lamb (which was cooked perfect!) and I had the 1/2 lobster and steak a.k.a "the surf and turf" and I truly enjoyed the meal. Definitely the best meal I've had since at Gordon Ramsay's- Claridges. USD42 but I thought I could eat another half pound of lobster. Yummy!

The man looking pleased with his order. He just can't wait to finish them up!
Chubbs and me had the same main course. BEFORE..

.. and AFTER. Sedap!!

Yes, he was a very happy man after a set of wonderful meal.

It's not complete without some chocolate fudge with vanilla ice- cream for this HUGE chocolate lover.
Yes, happy faces after good food. We are easily pleased.

We headed off to the Beach for some drinks after that and then time for bed. Goodnight guys.

Night out at the Pickled Onion Feb 21, 2009

Chubbs had been a good boy all day. I finally gave in and agreed to go for ET's surprise birthday bash. I was hesitant at the beginning when I got the idea of a 9 hours pub crawl at Front Street is part of the birthday bash. Hell no! Finally we agreed to just call in for a couple of hours and since Chubbs been awfully sweet and the fact that I will be going for a long holiday without him, I thought it will be nice to spend some time for him. We were late as usual, the bus just didn't turn up so we ended up waiting for an hour or so and finally got to the Pickled Onion. Anyway, we took a picture before we headed out, all looking nice and smart before we started freezing at the silly bus stop.
Yes, take another one!

Finally there at the PO.

Pickled Onion bar..

It is called the Pickled Onion, hence the "onion" type decor.

More pictures of us during the night

England's next top model? I don't know what he was trying to show me. But this resulted from a nasty comment I made to him I think. :)

Me & Warren

Finally one for the road. It was a fairly pleasant night, a beef kebab shared between us to call it a night.

Tucker's Point Wharf & Watch Hill Park Feb 21, 2009

Oh, before I forget. This is a typical Bermudian favourite meal. BBQ chicken, mac & cheese and coleslaw. This is my early dinner at Specialty Inn. We had a decent meal there. I was too hungry after exploring the caves and all the sight-seeing hehe.

I love this picture. The clouds looks beautiful. We came to check out Watch Hill Park after coming from Tucker's Point Wharf before going for dinner at Specialty Inn.

Watch Hill Park. A view from the top.

After exploring the caves, we then headed off to wander about around the island. First stop was at Tucker's Point Wharf. Below is the proud owner and his Vespa!I can finally wear my Ray-bans today because there is sunshine!! Its been stormy, rainy days all week, even had gales and we had wind coming at 100km/hr or even more! This island is probably the windy-iest place EVER.

I can sit here all day! Doing nothing and gazing at the beautiful view..

Me at my best- doing nothing! I could cope with an early retirement, I really could.

Fantasy Cave & Crystal Cave Bermuda Feb 21, 2009

Crystal Caves
This formation is actually 14-15 feet tall plus another 5 feet of water at least. Total about 20 feet deep before it drops to 50 feet deep at the edge. We were both confident that it just looked like 3 feet deep and that was how clear the water was! Yeah, it did sounded like we were idiots!

Fantasy Cave (both caves are about 1.6 million years old!) They are still "active" caves and you can hear the dripping of the water drops quite frequent especially at Crystal Cave and we both got kissed by the caves too! Chubbs however, got too carried away at one point where he allowed the limestone drips (cave kisses) to just obstruct his specs and trying hard to keep the drip on his face! haha. Its believed to bring us good luck! I wonder what else of luck he needs though. We love the clarity of the water! Just can't say enough about it. These are the chandelier formations found hanging from the top.

Another common type in Bermuda caves- popcorn formation.

Large collums. This is the largest one in Fantasy Caves I think and hence being named- the Emperor.

We love taking photos!! Everywhere!

Crystal Caves

They are so close to joining to each other, apparently it will take 100,000 years in order for this pair to join up together. Romantic?
Check out the formation and the lake beneath the caves, the reflection is so real that I had initially thought the were two separate formation. Only to realise that they were just reflections off the crystal clear lake.

The crystal clear waters were so serene and calm. No fishes or underwater creatures live in here because there are no food, no living microorganism could live here. I was so tempted to dive in and have a swim myself when I saw how clear the water was! Upon discovering that it is not recommended for swimmers or any form of recreational activities due to the high amount of limestone content in these waters that could cause rash, I was so tempted to push Chubbs in haha. I did ask him if he would like to have a quick dive in but the water is freezing cold!

This is the floating walkway for the tourists in the Crystal Caves.

Weather forecasted was great and it was accurate too, we spent a couple of hours exploring the Crystal Cave and the Fantasy Cave. Both the caves were AMAZINGLY beautiful and we had an excellent time. We were both amazed by the clarity of both lakes in the caves and the formation of the caves were just too good! I was hesitating at first when we reached there upon discovering that the entrance fee for each cave costed USD 18. However, Chubbs insisted to go ahead with our original plans and I screamed ok let's go for Crystal Caves as it was a more popular choice. Being like all women, I changed my mind just before Chubbs got the tickets and said hey, let's do both caves instead, since it costed USD26 for both. Typically what happens when TWO chartered accountants meet, they all see and play with numbers. Haha. We said, oh yes, excellent choice. We did 2 tours. Economic decision apparently, but we were both glad we did it as we were smacked with the gorgeous view of the caves and the guided tours proved to be really helpful. Awesome weather to go on the bike too! Overall, it was a day well spent!
