Whale Watching, April 2008

Note: this is a back-dated post.
We took this trip in April 2008 during our stay in Bermuda.

We spent one Sunday headed out to the sea with the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) for whale watching. I was really excited but sad to say, after half an hour on the boat, I got seasick and it was so bad that I spent most of my time asleep as I was throwing up and feeling totally ill on the boat. However, Laughton did manage to wake me up upon seeing any whales. :) No more sea expeditions for me anytime soon! sob sob..

We stopped by for a quick view of the fishes upon feeding them some bread.

Still managed to pose for photos before feeling seasick!
Still smiling! But not for too long.

Part of a shipwreck sticking out of the water.

Sorry, didn't manage to take photos of the whale sightings as I felt terrible. :)

Cendol & Hokkien mee, March 22, 2009

I took Belle for a swim at the municipal pool where I used to train during school days for a swim. It was good session and I hope to make it regular. After that, we headed for cendol with my aunty in Melaka Raya.
Below is a picture of the durian cendol. It was really good! First cendol in a long long time. A close up view. Mmmm.. delicious. Another good thirst quencher.

We went to KL after lunch and I went for dinner with Angela at a local favourite dinner place of mine when I used to work in KL.
Loh mee.

Hokkien mee at the Damansara Hokkien Mee. Oh I could eat this everyday! Brilliant!

Weekend at home, March 21, 2009

Monday, Tuesday or even Sunday seems quite similar for me lately as I have not been working and been staying at home. This Saturday, Dad took us out for breakfast- Dim sum.

Some photos of our dim sum.

Shrimp chee cheong fun.

Porridge.

Fried carrot cake with bean sprout, scallion and eggs.
This is Nugget's favourite time of the day. When Dad calls him for his treat! They are best friends now.

My partner in crime for the later half of the day. Actually my sister Laura, we spent time shopping at Dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota Parade, Melaka and hanging out at Old Town Kopitiam and Starbucks while waiting for my brother, Kevin to finish his work at Starbucks.
My favourite Iced white coffee and Laura's Iced hazelnut white coffee.
My typical afternoon drink, either iced tea or iced coffee. They make great thirst-quenchers in this hot Malaysian weather.

Toast with kaya (coconut jam) with a thick slice of butter to go with our Iced coffee.
An example my favourite past time. A sip of iced coffee and a bite of toast.

Another break at Starbucks after shopping and getting a bag full of DVD to catch up on the TVB series and Singapore Chinese series.

Compliment from Kevin, he made this sampler for me. Honestly, I didn't quite like the taste of it. Must get him to blend another drink later!

Making curry puffs at home, March 20, 2009

After being pestered by my aunty and family at home, I decided to make some curry puffs to let them try and who knows, if the taste is good, maybe I could start selling some curry puffs to get some pocket money.

Below is how the curry puffs looked like. Its basically some pastry puff with curried potatoes with some bits of chicken in it.
I had a visitor earlier, Mummy took this cute siberian husky pup over to our place and he was so cute with blue eyes! The only downside was, Nugget (my dog) was quite angry when we saw us fussing with the new puppy. He ignored me for the rest of the afternoon until I carried him and took him for a walk. I think he could smell the different puppy smell on me and hence refused to come to me when I called for his name. Ha ha. Jealousy.
Measuring the flour.

Kneading the dough. Painful process for someone lazy like me.

My head chef checking on me. She was impressed at the end of the day. Good work for a beginner.

Rewarded myself with a plate of char kueh tiow after the hard work :) (shared it with Mum & Dad)

It tasted great. Just stir fried rice noodles with bean sprouts, chilli, egg and topped up with some sweet sauce. They should make this simple dish as a standard dish on the menu in all the restaurants around the world. That would be awesome!

Our new gadget- Nikon SLR, March 19, 2009

The weather in Melaka is really hot. It was probably around 32 degrees Celcius normally and I really do wonder how I managed all the heat throughout these years. :) Well, coming back from Bermuda which was at 15 degrees Celcius and then at New York during the weekend where it was under 10 degrees Celcius, the change in temperature was killing me as my sinus attacks were as often as daily and I had to take decongestants and anti-histamine tablets which caused me to be drowsy most of the time! Hence I spent most of my time in air-conditioned room and minimize outdoor activities. Hopefully things will get better later on once my body acclimatise to the heat.
Anyway, the picture below explains the why the Malaysian Iced Tea (a.k.a Teh Ais) is such a popular drink and I can have this everyday at any time of the day! It's awesome.
We had breakfast at my favourite Mee Rebus stall in Melaka. Tambah sotong! Best-lah.

I was being greedy as usual so I ordered some rojak too. But ended up packing it for my brother as I probably had one or 2 small scoops only.

Happy face when I get me food!

Its all about eating. By the time I realised, lunch time! Grandma made me my favourite dish- Ikan masak taucu (Fish in bean paste sauce), it tasted just like the old days. I used to have this with just plain rice, when I was staying in Melaka. Yummy!

Laughton and me decided to get a SLR camera and here I am posing with our newly acquired Nikon SLR D60. I bought it earlier actually from KL last week, but just had the time now to start meddling with it.
A proud Nikon D60 owner! (well, half owner actually!) The 2 pictures below is actually dedicated to my brother Kevin. I love to tease him and try to make silly poses just like from the photos I saw from his girlfriends. No hard feelings intended to anyone who enjoy the few poses okay! Just kidding. :)

Okay, this is probably the only picture you can find me trying to act stupid or cute. Whatever suits. :) Kevin, I hope you like this. Ha ha

Okay back to some professional in action.
Some pictures of the new Slr.

Looks like I gotta do some homework and some learning before I can take award winning pictures with the new Nikon. :) Stay tuned!
