Fantasy Cave & Crystal Cave Bermuda Feb 21, 2009

Crystal Caves
This formation is actually 14-15 feet tall plus another 5 feet of water at least. Total about 20 feet deep before it drops to 50 feet deep at the edge. We were both confident that it just looked like 3 feet deep and that was how clear the water was! Yeah, it did sounded like we were idiots!

Fantasy Cave (both caves are about 1.6 million years old!) They are still "active" caves and you can hear the dripping of the water drops quite frequent especially at Crystal Cave and we both got kissed by the caves too! Chubbs however, got too carried away at one point where he allowed the limestone drips (cave kisses) to just obstruct his specs and trying hard to keep the drip on his face! haha. Its believed to bring us good luck! I wonder what else of luck he needs though. We love the clarity of the water! Just can't say enough about it. These are the chandelier formations found hanging from the top.

Another common type in Bermuda caves- popcorn formation.

Large collums. This is the largest one in Fantasy Caves I think and hence being named- the Emperor.

We love taking photos!! Everywhere!

Crystal Caves

They are so close to joining to each other, apparently it will take 100,000 years in order for this pair to join up together. Romantic?
Check out the formation and the lake beneath the caves, the reflection is so real that I had initially thought the were two separate formation. Only to realise that they were just reflections off the crystal clear lake.

The crystal clear waters were so serene and calm. No fishes or underwater creatures live in here because there are no food, no living microorganism could live here. I was so tempted to dive in and have a swim myself when I saw how clear the water was! Upon discovering that it is not recommended for swimmers or any form of recreational activities due to the high amount of limestone content in these waters that could cause rash, I was so tempted to push Chubbs in haha. I did ask him if he would like to have a quick dive in but the water is freezing cold!

This is the floating walkway for the tourists in the Crystal Caves.

Weather forecasted was great and it was accurate too, we spent a couple of hours exploring the Crystal Cave and the Fantasy Cave. Both the caves were AMAZINGLY beautiful and we had an excellent time. We were both amazed by the clarity of both lakes in the caves and the formation of the caves were just too good! I was hesitating at first when we reached there upon discovering that the entrance fee for each cave costed USD 18. However, Chubbs insisted to go ahead with our original plans and I screamed ok let's go for Crystal Caves as it was a more popular choice. Being like all women, I changed my mind just before Chubbs got the tickets and said hey, let's do both caves instead, since it costed USD26 for both. Typically what happens when TWO chartered accountants meet, they all see and play with numbers. Haha. We said, oh yes, excellent choice. We did 2 tours. Economic decision apparently, but we were both glad we did it as we were smacked with the gorgeous view of the caves and the guided tours proved to be really helpful. Awesome weather to go on the bike too! Overall, it was a day well spent!

Valentine's Weekend February 14-15, 2009

Chubbs' attempt at getting me to pretend like I am on a racing bike!

Me trying to have a go with Chubbs' Vespa.

Photos taken at the Somerset Bridge. Apparently the world's smallest drawbridge..

Cambridge Beaches

Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel

We had an exchange of cards and gift for each other the night before Valentine's and we checked into Fairmont Southampton Princess hotel for the weekend stay. We were greeted with some complimentary strawberries coated with chocolates and dolphins and also a bottle of bubbly. Dinner was excellent as usual, we headed off to Yashi (our regular sushi bar) as most place were only doing Valentine's menu and they were fully booked.

We went to Salt Rock Grill in Mangrove Bay for brunch where I had my most weird fish & chips and Chubbs had a beef pie. It was surprisingly pricier than we expected, even though it was so far out from town. After that, we went to do a bit of sight-seeing in Bermuda, something we missed out a lot because we were on vacation outside Bermuda mostly during last summer. Our first stop was the Cambridge Beaches, we had a quick visit as the weather did not seem permitting. I had always wanted to go for a weekend there, but it is very expensive and with my current situation, we better not! We stopped by at the Somerset Bridge too, apparently famous for being the world's smallest drawbridge! Honestly, being in Bermuda; "the smallest" feat is not impossible, it is quite easy and possible! Well, I got myself some nice pictures with the bike too, going to miss it pretty soon when I am back to the city. That cute Vespa is our main transportation around Bermuda and has served us well!

Danielle's Going Away Party Feb 7, 2009

Danielle, my former EY colleague; she was going to leave the island and we had this do for her at Mike & Warren's place in Southampton. It was like a pot-luck and this time, I threw the task to Chubbs and he made one of the best pastas ever- his ham & peas cream sauce pasta. It was so delicious that I being the greedy one, actually had a small bowlful of pasta before we headed off. Yes, I actually had more pasta there too and even took some home for my supper! Yes, I am super greedy, even going to the extent of making Chubbs cook the same pasta in the very same week. Ha ha. He was really amazed at my new found love with his pasta dish. Anyway, below is a photo taken with Danielle, she is from Jamaica and moved to Atlanta. Hope to visit her in the near future! Joe, Karla, Me & Waqas.
Warren & Me

How can I miss out Chubbs.. :) Most people noticed our matching colour combination and Warren insisted that I am in charge of Chubbs' clothes; which I had to strongly deny again and again because I just give comments if I feel like it and I do not pick out clothes for him.

My gym & gossip friend, Lynne. :)

Chubbs wanted to take a picture of my on ME own. The lady in red.

Red was obviously the COLOUR of the night.

Our First Year Anniversary Feb 3, 2009

Time does flies! We exchanged cards and gifts the night before. Look at the happy faces!! There was no massive do planned out this year as we were both busy and we wanted to spend some quiet time as we have our New York City trip lined up next in March so we are looking forward to splurge some green bags there haha! Chubbs prepared dinner and this is what we had and it tasted really good! We even had champagne, it was part of my Christmas gift from his mum and it did come handy. Started off with some bubbly and then some home-made French Onion soup for starters.

Well, we had some pan fried swordfish seasoned with black pepper and salt, topped up with some spicy roasted pepper salsa (which I bought from a vineyard in the Napa Valley during my holiday to San Francisco), some salad and some carbs.

Chubbs looking pleased at his dinner..

One for the camera.

That's how dinner looked like. :)

My first Forever Friends teddy from Chubbs. I am still waiting for a Steiff Bear from Chubbs though.. Maybe next year?

Up close.

We had a great time nevertheless, and hope there will be many, many more anniversaries to come!

Chinese New Year Gathering, Feb 2, 2009

We had a gathering or simply a party in the first week of CNY and below are some photos taken during the night. Hmmm, the atmosphere is really lacking as compared to CNY back at home, with the cheesy music, TV programmes, loud fireworks, friends and especially the family. I really miss celebrating CNY at home and I've been away for 2 years, I hope to spend CNY 2010 in Malaysia!!! Well, all we did was eat, drink & be merry!!
